Puppy dog eyes can be adorable. Puppy love can be sweet. Puppy dog bloody diarrhea, not so much.

Little furry friends sold through Petland, a national pet store chain, seem to be the main culprits behind a multi-state, multidrug-resistant Campylobacter infection outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As of October 3, this outbreak has included 55 reported cases from 12 states: Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. The cases have included 14 Petland employees and 35 people who “either recently purchased a puppy at Petland, visited a Petland, or visited or live in a home with a puppy sold through Petland before illness began.” The first case began on September 12…
